Self Introduction
I graduate from the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IHPST) at University of Toronto. My doctoral dissertation deals with the explanatory and interpretative functions of the mathematical models in population genetics and evolutionary biology. I also have degrees in Philosophy (B. A.) and the History and Philosophy of science and technology (M.A.) obtained from Peking University. My current primary research interests lie in the philosophy of biology and the history of evolutionary biology.
Research Interests
In recent years, I have been focusing upon some topics embodying the intersection of the philosophy of biology and the general philosophy of science, such as the mathematical models in population genetics and the scientific explanations (especially non-causal ones) in evolutionary biology. I also research the philosophical and historical issues concerning the “Modern Synthesis” in evolutionary biology.
