Dr. Liyao Zhu received her Ph.D. in June 2025 from the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University. Her research interests center on Science, Technology, and Society (STS), science and culture, and AI ethics. Her doctoral dissertation explored the construction of a theoretical approach to the ritual view of science communication and its empirical applications. Prior to her Ph.D., she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University, and a Master’s degree in Science Communication from the School of Humanities, University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Research Interests:

Dr. Liyao Zhu’s recent research addresses public perceptions of controversial science and technology, the role of AI in shaping scientific knowledge production and communication, and the theoretical and methodological development of science communication and sociology.
